As part of the expansion of Bloomfield Shopping Centre, MSM successfully procured this Design & Build contract to construct a two-storey extension comprising two additional retail units and shopping centre management offices.
Before commencing the construction phase, demolition works to the main entrance and internal structural alterations were carried out. The newbuild extension involved constructing a structural steelwork frame on piled foundations with an in-situ concrete floor at ground level and a composite metaldeck floor with concrete infill at first floor. The external façade comprises insulated cladding panels, ‘fair-faced’ architectural blockwork and ppc aluminum curtain walling, entrance doors and shop fronts to the shopping centre entrance and retail units. Both retail units were fitted out as per the individual tenant’s design and involved complete M&E services installation.
Refurbishment works including replacement interior surface finishes and removal and upgrading of existing M&E services were carried out to existing mall areas.
Strict working controls and segregation measures were implemented by our site team to ensure the shopping centre remained fully accessible to the estimated 50,000 users each week during the entire construction period.
