MSM were awarded the contract to construct an extension to Maghaberry Community Centre for Lisburn City Council. A requirement of this contract was to ensure the existing single-storey centre remained open daily throughout the construction period and the adjacent 3G synthetic pitch and childrens’ playpark were segregated from the works area and were kept open.
The scope of works involved the construction of a newbuild single-storey extension comprising a multi-purpose hall and changing accommodation with internal alterations / refurbishment works to provide a new function room, foyer, reception and welfare accommodation.
The newbuild extension is constructed with structural steel frame on reinforced concrete foundations. The building envelope comprises masonry cavity infill walling, proprietary coloured render and PPC aluminium curtain walling, windows and doors. The pitched roof is concrete roof tiles on a cut timber roof and PPC aluminium rainwater goods. Internal fit-out works were completed to both the extension and refurbished areas.
External works involved resurfacing the car park, reconfiguring the entrance, forming paved areas, fencing, soft landscaping and foul/storm drainage connections.
