As part of the ongoing redevelopment of the Ulster Hospital, MSM were awarded the contract to carry out major refurbishment works to the Accident & Emergency Department. This challenging project was delivered in an acute hospital environment and programmed over five phases to enable the Accident & Emergency Department to remain operational throughout the construction period.
Key elements of this refurbishment project included:
• Structural alterations and stripping out to allow reconfiguration of internal floor space
• Stripping out and replacement of existing m&e installations
• Removal of asbestos containing materials
• Provision of structural supports and internal blockwork walls
• Replacement internal timber doors
• Replacement linings and surface finishes including slip resistant vinyl flooring, metal partitions, plasterboard drylining, suspended ceilings and painting
• Installation of furniture and fittings including IPS panels, toilet cubicles, mirrors and fitted furniture
• Specialist mechanical, electrical, air conditioning and medical gas installations
Other works included upgrade works to the X-ray rooms and lobby, as well as external improvements to the ambulance bay.
